After adding Mark DeRosa a few weeks back it filled there vacany at 3B and essentially blocked 3B prospect Bret Wallace. Well earlier today he along with with two other prospects were used to aquire Matt Holiday from the A's.
This is a win for the Cards who now have protection for Pujols with Holliday and takes the pressure off Ryan Ludwick who came be moved down and see more fastballs. Not only support for Albert but OF depth in whick they can platoon Duncan, Ankiel, and Rasmus. They have gone from division contenders to World Series contenders
Holliday has seen his numbers decline this year and many think he was a Coors field product. This is falsr, recently he has been on a tear and is now batting .286 with 11 homers and 52 RBIs playing in the planet of a field in Oakland. Him going back to the National League and a smaller field should boost his numbers
